Stephanie's Story For 4 years, my husband and I tried to have a baby. I had endometreosis and went through years of pain, many surgeries, inseminations, etc. Finally the doctor told me that I needed to have a hysterectomy. I was 26 years old and this was the hardest thing I have ever had to go through. My husband, family, and friends were very supported. Without them, I dont know where I would be today. Understanding what we were going through, a friend of ours asked to be our surrogate! She is married and has 2 beautiful children. She is so wonderful... We did the insemination once and it TOOK! So now I am an intended parent :-). We do have an attorney involved -- we wanted to cover all bases in the adoption process, since I will not be the legal mother when the baby is first born.. However, my husband will be the legal father. We are now pregnant and due in February 2005. This has been a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it to anyone. Our surrogate is giving us something that we have waited for all our lives... She will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. I pray every day for this WONDERFUl person!!
