Robin's Story
Posted May 10, 2006
My husband and I have been married for five
years (this October). We have been ttc for two of those years.
After the first year we decided to see a Reproductive Endocronologist
- it was the best decision we made. Initially we were communicating
through each of our own doctors. That made treatment a pain
in the rear - each doctor was saying something different.
I had an intial gyno exam which checked out
fine. So, my dh had his semen
analysis which showed low sperm count and motility, in
addition to low volume. His doctor was convinced that this
was the problem. He ignored my fear that something else was
wrong...I felt I needed more of a going-over. He referred
dh to a specialist who would perform a surigical procedure
to remove a varicose vein.
Well, neither one of us was satisfied. Something
just seemed off. We wanted more information and it just seemed
we were being thrown in all directions and that no one really
knew what they were doing. So, we found a RE who had a fertility
clinic near us.
It turned out that I had suffered a miscarriage
and my body wasn't cleansing itself. So, I had a D&C. Along
with that I also have PCOS.
They re-did dh's semen
analysis to find it low, but not as bad as previously
thought. The hospital I had previously gone to had rigid rules
about being checked in before dropping off the test combined
with drive time... the sample was destroyed and the results
were worthless. He still had a
low sperm count, but it was workable and definitely no
surgery needed (imagine if we did that unnecessarily!).
So, after nearly a year of trying off and on
we ended up conceiving. On March 4, 2006 Hunter William was
born. I thank God for him every day! Keep strong ladies it
can happen :)) Hugs to all of you!!
