June's Story
posted July 11, 2005
As I am reading these stories I am more
scared than ever to begin our IUI
(intra-uterine insemination) journey.
My husband and I have been married for a little over
four years we "immediately started trying to conceive".
We did not go all crazy with the ovulation tests or
doctor's appointments until four years into our marriage.
I finally made a doctor's appointment assuming that
our problem was with me -- my husband has a seven year
old daughter. From the tests performed, we discovered
that I am ovulating and all my tests are normal.
We then went to the next step we had my husband do
a sperm count -- to "rule it out". We were
very surprised to discover that it actually was him
--he has a low
sperm count and low
motility (not strong enough to reach my cervix).
Our next step was to start seeing a fertility doctor
for both of us, but before we could get into the doctor's
appointment I ended up pregnant! Unfortunately, we lost
the baby four days later. We then had to wait two long
normal periods before the doctor would even see us.
We had our first appointment on monday June 20th and
were told that we would be going through the IUI
procedure but first have to have a blockage test
done to see if my tubes are blocked. I am crossing my
fingers that they are not. We should be going through
our first procedure on or around the 2nd of August.
