Emma's Story
posted August 18, 2005
I tried to conceive for several years,
all the while watching my younger sister and friends
get pregnant left and right, usually not even meaning
to.
I went to a fertility doctor and it was
discovered that I had so much scar tissue and adhesions
that my tubes were blocked. It ended up that I had to
have about 4 major surgeries, the last one was supposed
to be a complete hysterectomy, (I was only 25 at the
time), but my doctor stated that my organs including
my uterus were meshed together from the scar tissue,
that he could not get the uterus out.
Before this last surgery, my husband and
I decided that instead of IVF,
(didn't think I could bare peeing on another stick and
it not be positive) we would try adoption. We were truly
blessed with a fast adoption. We signed up with the
adoption attorney in January and were chosen by the
birthmother in March and we had a brand new baby boy
in May!!! He is 5 years old now and from the moment
he was born, even hours after he was born, everyone
is convinced that my husband had an affair with our
birthmother because they look so much alike.
Now after 5 years I still have that urge
to see if IVF could work for me but am scared to death
because we have not even got our adoption loan paid
off yet.
